The Power Sentence 

If: you waffle a lot , try starting your sentence with a power statement of 

12 words or less.  

Example: Money is the route of all evil.

Whats is right, isn't always popular 

Hard work leads to positive results 


Walking makes you fit 

We have P.E today 


The Red, White and blue ' Sentence 

Use this sentence style when you have several ideas to convey about a topic.

Examples : Successful student are focused, hard-working and punctual 

                                                         red              white                blue

The Earth's key resources are clean air, fresh water and natural environments 

Sunshine,water and friends make for a perfect weekend adventure 

The weather outside is foggy, cold and gray    

The weather outside is sunny, hot and yellow

Write that Essay Sentences

 The 'W' Sentence - makes the sentence sound thoughtful and knowledgeable.

Remember the rule: not every 'W' word works in a sentence starter, 

                                           Remember to put a comma in when the parts affected by your 'W' word are                                                   finished 

Examples: who,while,whereas,when,what,whilst,with 

Whilst the class was eating, i read my book.

Where you like chocolate, others prefer candy 


When i was with my friends, we ran around 

Who was the man, he yelling down the street 

Silently the cat, stalked its prey

In 1975 a high school, was finally built in hornby

Use the 'ing' version of the verb e.g to run - running remember the rule when you finish your- phrase ing place a comma then write the rest of the sentence

Examples-Realising the danger, people fled from the cities. Shaking away the nerves, he walked towards the microphone acknowledging the speaker he bowed his head in silence

Signalling for the teacher, to help me with my work

Realising that i still, don't like school


The 'ed' sentence

Use the 'ed' version of the verb e.g to run - jogged remember the rule when you finish your- phrase ed place a comma then write the rest of the sentence

some-ed words frustrated surprised excited committed undaunted determined overpowered concerned corned delighted enthralled


Examples- Determined to win,Tony pushed himself the last meters of the sprint. Concerned for the welfare of others, the prime minister passed new laws. Frustrated by the ongoing rain, I started out the window.

Determined the get the work done, she sat by herself

Excited for his birthday, he ran home

The adverb Sentence e.g surprisingly,confusingly,firstly,remarkably,often,adverb sentence starters add interest or intrigue to our work remember the  rule: when you start a sentence with an adverb, place a comma after the adverb then write the rest of the sentence 
examples,Accidentally,shockingly,concerning,excitedly,significantly,similarly,simply    

simply, i added the milk to the batter.
shockingly, the lunch today was served hot. 

shockingly, Maddys Chromebook went flat 
excitedly, the dog ran outside 
skilfully, he through the ball 
swiftly, the teacher write on the bored
thankfully, she passed the class
interestingly, the kids did the work 
 the  preposition sentence   
a preposition gives location or moment 
remember the rule: when you start the sentence with a preposition, you need to put a comma when the moment or position ends 
In the beginning we talked a lot
throughout the lesson,i tried not to fall asleep, 
near the basket ball court,is the rubbish bin 

 at morning ten, is when we eat lunch 
at the end, of the lesson we talk a lot
