Aotearoa Tangata whenua

At school with have been watching a history about Aotearoa Tangata whenua New Zealand and its people.

the Polynesians come to New Zealand on accident looking for an octopus eating all the fish
by kupe and his wife.

The Polynesians came to New Zealand on Waka.

The Maori ate the Moa and then used fires to get the last Moa out of hiding.

The Maori also drove 32 other native species of bird of New Zealand to extinction.

Kupe's wife named Aotearoa after the long white cloud she saw hanging above it.

In 12\25 waka would be 150 people.

They had kuri dogs.

The owners like eat them if they got to hunger.

They would shave the kuri's of they fur for cloth's and we're the fur for special occasions.

That's a bit about new Zealand and our people and land.

  1. Ka pai Makenzie! I am very impressed with your sentences about the first people in Aotearoa. You have shown great understanding of our history, remembering key facts such as the Maori lighting a fire to chase out he remaining Moa in the bush.
You must be a good note taker. Well done!
